Holiday Party | Client: Microsoft | Seattle, WA

This was a holiday party that I designed and produced for Microsoft in Seattle, Washington. Microsoft knew which venue and caterer they wanted to use and that they wanted the theme to be “The Great Gatsby.” With that information, I received ground plans of the location and began to plan the event.

We needed to add a large tent in the parking lot to accommodate all of the people attending the party. This was a huge party in both location and in attendees. It was agreed upon that the entertainment would be flapper girls, silhouette dancers in the 2nd story windows overlooking the main part of the event, a woman on a trapeze serving champagne to the guests, gambling and a room full of vintage cool cars for viewing purposes.

I designed the drapery throughout including the outdoor tent. The entire inside of the tent was draped from ceiling to floor in black satin fabric. I designed the back wall of the bar area. I used gold paper and folded it into fans and hot glued them to a piece of foam core to make a beautiful textured and themed backing wall behind the bartender.

I worked with the entertainers and told them what to wear in order to stay within the theme. I also worked with a lighting company and DJ to light and DJ the event. We had 1 day to load-in and only 1 loading dock which needed to be carefully planned so that all vendors could get in, unload, and get out so the next vendor could repeat. I devised a load-in schedule so that everything flowed smoothly.
